Survey for an Annual Watercraft Pass
The Government of Alberta have noted the importance of protecting Albertan lakes and waters from aquatic invasive species, especially with rising reports of Zebra Mussels throughout other provinces. Invasive species such as the Zebra Mussel, can cause damage to infrastructure, ecosystems, food chains, and shorelines, so procedures such as “Clean, Drain, Dry” are important to prevent invasives spreading through watercrafts. The use of watercrafts is one of the main ways that these larva of mussels can spread, and so the government want to better understand the use and movement of watercrafts between different bodies of water.
One way the government is considering for increasing their understanding and to help mitigate the spread of these aquatic invasive species, is through implementing an Annual Watercraft Pass. This would require owners of motorized and non-motorized watercrafts to provide information on location and use, along with a possible annual fee. Feedback on this option is wanted, and available through the online survey below, which should only take 5-10 minutes to fill out!
