Meet the Team - Summer 2022

Get to know the PLWA summer stewardship team.

Amanda Koot, Environmental Program Coordinator

My name is Amanda, and I am the 2022 Environmental Program Coordinator for the Pigeon Lake Watershed Association! I will be entering my 4th year of study at The King’s University in Edmonton where I am working on my B.Sc. Environmental Studies with a concentration in Biology. In addition to my studies, I have on campus employment with our facilities department and I served a term as VP Student Services with our Students’ Association. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, camping, and spending time with family and friends. I am passionate about conservation work and I believe in taking a holistic and interdisciplinary approach to environmental issues, in order to better understand both the problem and potential solutions. I look forward to applying this way of thinking to my work with PLWA and any other work I may do in the future!

Helsa Chen, Community Science Coordinator

Hello! My name is Helsa and I am working for PLWA as the Community Science Coordinator. I am in my final year of environmental science with a concentration in geography at the University of Calgary. I am passionate about environmental conservation, partially on issues surrounding water quality and protection. I am excited to work on the PLWA team this summer to protect Pigeon Lake and its watershed! During my free time I enjoy gardening and hope to grow a lot of fruits and vegetables this summer!
