Kirsten Chamberlin, Environmental Program Coordinator

Hi! My name is Kirsten, and I’m this summer’s PLWA Environmental Program Coordinator. I recently graduated from a Bachelor of Science program with a specialization in Earth and Atmospheric Science at the University of Alberta. I have spent the last few years working as a Laboratory Assistant in Environmental Microbiology processing water samples for the City of Edmonton and surrounding areas. I’m passionate about environmental conservation and water safety; I will be taking my studies further next year as I pursue a Masters degree in Resource Economics and Environmental Sociology. In addition to my school and work, I am a goalie with the University of Alberta Pandas Hockey Team!

Makenna Graham, Program Coordinator Intern

My name is Makenna Graham and I am working for the Pigeon Lake Watershed Association as a Program Coordinator Intern with a focus on landscaping this summer. This means I will be working to organize the PLWA Planting Challenge for 2021 and maintaining the demonstration gardens across the watershed. A fun fact about me is that my family has owned property at Pigeon Lake since the 1940’s. I practically grew up here so my love for the lake makes me a great fit for this position!

As the GIS mapping intern, I’m responsible for creating thematic maps of Pigeon Lake and its watershed. My goal is to support PLWA's stewardship and research initiatives. I am currently in my final year of Geomatics Engineering at the University of Calgary.
