This workshop is being organized by invitation to municipal and First Nations councilors and staff, environmental organizations, Alberta Transportation and other government officials, and road contractors.
Workshop attendees will discuss the effects of road salt and best management practices for reducing impacts. We will hear from the Alberta Lake Management Society on salinity levels in Pigeon Lake and learn about best management practices for road salt in neighbouring jurisdictions, including a road salt study and white paper from the Sturgeon River Watershed, the Camrose Source Water Protection Plan, and the City of Leduc’s Road Salt Management Plan.
