1900’s - Altering Shoreline for Paddle Wheeler

“Where the Bunnin house (#21 Silver Beach) is at present, land was cut out to berth the Countess paddle-wheeler. On each side tall stacks of wooden slabs extended into the water about thirty feet…the slabs that broke away and washed up on shore provided firewood for local residents for many years.”
